ABOUT US
Our Mission
WE EXIST TO LOVE GOD AND LOVE OTHERS
We are a Christ-centered community living our mission through vibrant worship, in-depth instruction, strong fellowship, and sacrificial service to one another.
EMPHASIS ON THE WORD
2 Timothy 3:16-17 – We are a church that not only believes that the Bible is fully and truly the inerrant Word of God, but we also recognize the importance of the Word in our teaching and preaching. We serve as a body of believers possessing a strong Christian worldview with the knowledge of how to filter “life” through the Scriptures and strategically engage our culture for God’s glory.
INTENTIONAL FELLOWSHIP
Acts 2:42 – We are a church that is passionate about loving one another. Words and actions coincide as we seek to show the love of Christ. This is accomplished through intentional times of fellowship, both in small groups and corporate settings.
VIBRANT WORSHIP
Colossians 3:16 – We are a church that embraces a vibrant style of worship. Understanding the value of corporate worship, our services are designed to include the entire body of Christ through a blended-style of worship, utilizing the various arts. From congregational singing to music selection, we seek to exalt our Lord.
CENTRALITY OF THE GOSPEL
Matthew 28:19-20 – We are a church that emphasizes every aspect of the Gospel. This is expressed through local and global outreach, which are both vital to the life of our body. We want to be known as a congregation that takes evangelism and discipleship seriously.
DEPENDENCE ON PRAYER
Ephesians 6:18 – We are a church that recognizes the essential component of prayer in the life of our congregation. From private to corporate prayer, our fellowship seeks the Father’s will through the power of the Spirit in Jesus’ name.
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
1 Corinthians 12:14-20 – We are a church that understands the importance and uniqueness of every member of our body. We strive to equip and utilize our congregation by maximizing their talents and the resources that God has entrusted to us.
OUR HISTORY
In August 2020, forty Christ-followers met to pray about establishing a church in one of the nation’s fastest growing communities – Westfield, Indiana. Just two weeks later, Senior Pastor Dr. David Hoffeditz led our new church in its inaugural worship service, in light of what was recognized by the founders as clear direction from the Lord.
Community Bible Fellowship (CBF) was formed as a nondenominational evangelical Christian church. Our body is congregationally-led and guided by a Board of Elders – a group of men elected by the members and meeting the biblical qualifications for church leadership.
From May 2021 through November 2023, the church family met in the Westfield High School auditorium with an average of over 400 worshippers each Sunday morning. By God’s grace, CBF was able to purchase 15 acres in Westfield. After a generous “Growing by Faith” capital campaign, T&W builders broke ground for our new building in September 2022. On November 19, 2023, we held our Dedication Sunday when we worshiped in our new church home at 231 East 161st Street for the first time.
God’s hand is moving powerfully, encouraging us all to echo King David’s words in Psalm 118:23, “This is the Lord’s doing: It is marvelous in our eyes!”
OUR BELIEFS
We uphold seven core beliefs as essential to Christianity. These beliefs relate to God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, humanity, salvation, and the end of time.
We believe…
. . . that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God and without mistakes as originally written. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the only unfailing rule of faith and practice for the Christian life.
. . . in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.
. . . in the deity of Jesus Christ; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary death on a cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return.
. . . that man was created by and for God; that by man’s disobeying God, every person incurred spiritual death, which is separation from God, and physical death as a consequence; and that all people are sinners by nature and practice.
. . . the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him are declared righteous because of His sacrificial death and are, therefore, in the right relationship with God.
. . . in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the believer.
. . . in the bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived, the everlasting blessedness of those in right relationship with God, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God’s forgiveness in His Son.
